YOLO HTC WRAP-UP

Over the last two months, You Only Live Once has been involved in testing out the HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio through ten chosen ambassadors who are instrumental in Sydney’s music landscape; both behind the decks and in the field.

No ordinary phone, this baby even comes with the exclusive Beats by Dre headphones – key to perfecting the quality sound.

First we got amongst it at the launch at Beach Haus, where we played around with the device for the first time.

First impressions: Pretty good!

We then moved across town and onto a photo shoot with all the ambassadors which gave them the opportunity to work it. Beni showed us how it was done.

We celebrated the coming together of so many musical geniuses in one room with a YOLO dinner in the private room at The Duke.

The headset and phone got lots of airtime from Dangerous Dan Man at YOLO’s weekly party at Hugo’s Lounge for Sneaky Sundays.

The babes were also fans, including Natalie Imbruglia.

Nicky Van She got serious whilst mixing up some serious tunes with his device and Beats by Dre headphones.

The headphones creator Dr Dre backs it up, “Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can’t really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can’t handle the bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn’t move you. Pat from Hobo had waay too much fun for a DJ, putting the device through its paces at Falcona Fridays and had this to say about the device:

“Surprisingly very fast to use, camera is awesome, sound is great (especially with the headphones), I love the level of customisation allowed within the device, so much freedom. I never realised how restricted I was with my old phone until I got my hands on the Sensation.”

Given Pat’s day job as a photographer for Hobogestapo we’re sure it’s more so the 8MP camera with HD video recording capabilities that really floats his boat.

Cassian and DJ Goodwill were next putting the device to the test in the bikini-clad surrounds of the Ivy Pool

While Bambalam wowed the Ivy crowd with her smooth tunes and hot headphones…

Frank Xavier one of Sydney’s finest producers played around with the device in both da club and in the studio.

And last up was the king of the internet Toby Allen who fell in love with the way the device made everything on the internet look clearer and bigger with its resolution and 4.7 inch screen.

Overall, we have had a great time, getting to know it. Knowing what it likes. Feeling its sexy curves, picking it up and throwing it around. It gets semi-sexual our relationship with shiny new things, so it would come as no surprise we’d fall in love with it.
