RALPH LAUREN LIKES CARS

It’s no surprise Ralph Lauren is one of the most classically styled gentleman in the whole entire universe, and with such limitless style you need to match the taste of that refined palate with an automobile worthy of the task. And when you’re a bajillionaire like Ralph, you can pretty much afford whatever car you desire. That’s not to say he has the most expensive taste, (despite the fact he has some serious opulence in his collection) he explains, “It doesn’t matter if it’s a brand new Bugatti or a 1961 Morgan. I have that variation in my collection. I never thought of myself as a person who was going to buy cars to put them out there; I thought of myself driving them.”

To Mr. Lauren, cars are seen as pieces of artwork. He has a profound love for artists like Ettore Bugatti explaining, “his cars were built by a team of real craftsmen. I love that craftsmanship. It gives one a sense of personal connection to the maker. Bugattis as objects of beauty.” You can tell that his love for fashion is somehow derived from the design and artisan built qualities that auto designers before him have implemented.

This summer at the renowned Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, one of the most celebrated car collections in the world—that of Mr. Ralph Lauren—will be on display. Running from April 28-August 28, the exhibit titled The Art of the Automobile, is a must-see for any enthusiast. But, for those of us that won’t make it, here is a true collector with maybe the most extensive collection of absolute style in one showroom, check it out HERE.
