LA’S TOP TEN SPOTS BY LINLEE ALLEN

Cinefamily, 611 N Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles +1 323 655 2510
Epic programming, A-grade appearances (Elliott Gould, Gena Rowlands, Quentin Tarantino) and tasty coffee with bong breaks at intermission. Does it get any better? Um, yes. I can even smuggle my dog into the cinema, booya!

Gagosian Gallery
, 456 North Camden Drive, Beverly Hills +1 310 271 9400
Hands down one of my favorite galleries in L.A – the openings are a veritable melting pot of Hollywood bigwigs/artists/actors / fabulous nobodies.

The Standard Downtown
, 550 South Flower Street, Los Angeles +1 213 892 8080
Because supporting aspiring filmmakers, hiring up and coming DJ’s and suggesting artist collaborations is part of my work as the West Coast Culture Director for this place and I love it. Plus I’m a total shark on this pool table!

Melrose and Fairfax Flea Market
, Corner of Melrose Avenue and Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles
I like going here on Sunday mornings to see what crazy things I can photograph.

The Huntington Botanical Gardens
, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, Pasadena
This place is basically Laura and Kate from Rodarte’s backyard! There’s a museum, a Japanese temple, a bonafide field of rose bushes and even a cactus garden. Insane photo-ops!

OK
, 8303 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles  +1 323 653 3501
I’m a retarded shopper when it comes to finding cool gifts for people so I usually head here because I think the buying is so good when it comes to decor/books/accessories/jewelry/objects.

Juliano’s Raw
, 609 Broadway, Santa Monica +1 310 587 1552
Definitely an orgy for your tastebuds topped with ingredients like chlorella, spirulina, wheatgrass, chlorophyll and more. Just wait until you leave this place and see how good you feel.

Hike @ Franklin Canyon Park
, 2600 Franklin Canyon Drive, Beverly Hills
I love a bit of hardcore hike action several times a week and the opportunity to witness my dog interact with squirrels, fish, frogs and other amazing creatures is always a good thing.

Trashy Lingerie
, 402 North La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood +1 310 652 4543
It’s impossible not to stop on my bike and photograph these ultra-kitsch window displays whenever passing by this store. A truly iconic part of L.A for me.

Downtown LA

Such a good combination of raw culture and old school history! There’s nothing quite like walking along Broadway at night, photographing the vintage neon signs and imagining this iconic strip of movie halls and performance theaters in their heyday. It must have really been incredible and makes me think of one of my favorite books “Ask the Dust” by John Fante. Oh, and no matter how many times I walk around The Walt Disney Music Hall it still blows my mind every time.
