LA SUSHI
Urasawa, 218 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills +1 310 247 8939
If you like your sushi expensive, this should be top of your list. Adventurous and presented like a masterpiece, there is nothing simple here, not even the tofu with caviar and gold leafs.

Sushi Wa, 1106 N La Cienega Blvd # 201, West Hollywood +1 310 854 7285
In a funny parking lot venue, this place has great fresh sushi but also a lot of Nobu-esqe dishes for a fraction of the price. Yellowtail sashimi with jalepeno, tempura lobster with creamy sauce, oh yeah.

Sushi Park, 8539 Sunset Blvd #20, West Hollywood +1 310 652 0523
Owned by Peter Park, this is FRESHEST sushi around. Let him know if you have allergies or things you don’t eat, and then let the chefs do the rest. The food will keep coming until you are full, be careful though, you pay for the freshness and you could eat your way well into a $200 bill.

Mathsuhisa, 129 North La Cienega Boulevard, Beverly Hills +1 310 659 9639
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s first restaurant and 24 years later it is still superb. It’s always busy so book well ahead. A huge menu offering all of Nobu’s signature dishes.

Katsuya, 6300 Hollywood Boulevard +1 323 871 8777 (see website for more locations)
One of the fancier places to eat your Sushi. An impressive cocktail list and interior designed by Philippe Starck – you get the picture of what this place is about?

Katsu-ya, 11680 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City +1 818 985 6976
The original of the previously mentioned Katsuya, in a strip mall in Studio City. If you like things a little less stuffy then come down here for most of the same menu items. Don’t forget to check the special board.

Takami Sushi & Robata, Penthouse, 811 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 2100 +1 213 236 9600
Located in downtown LA, 21 floors high in an office block, this place has killer views, a killer menu and killer cocktails to match. An unbeatable all round experience.

Sushi Nozawa, 11288 Ventura Boulevard, Suite C, Studio City +1 818 508 7017
Another sit down and be served sushi bar, offering only whatever is chef Nozawa’s selection of the day. Nothing tricky, just fresh delicious old school sushi and sashimi.

Sushi Zo, 9824 National Boulevard, Culver City +1 312 842 3977
Blink and you’ll miss this 5-star sushi joint, which is kind of easy to do, because you won’t be expecting it to be right next door to KFC. The sushi here deserves all the golden reviews you’ll read about it. Another damn fine LA Sushi establishment.

Sasabune, 12400 Wilshire Boulevard, West LA +1 310 820 3596
In addition to Zo, Sushi Park, and Nozawa, here’s another one where Omakase (chef’s choice) is essential. Not only does it take the hard work out of ordering (don’t we all love this?), you get the very best catch of the day. The only downside is, as always, you don’t know how many dollars you’re swallowing until you get served with the cheque.
