IBIZA AQUA
West:
Platges de Comte (Cala Conta)
Our favourite beach in Ibiza. Or should we say favourite three; de Comte (or Cala Conta as it’s also known) is comprised of three seriously stunning bays, so take your pick on which outlook you prefer. Better yet, go back three times and spend a day on each. What with the water, lunches at S’illa des Bosc, and the sunset, you’ll definitely want to.

Cala Salada
Popular with locals and those lucky enough to moor their private boats, Salada is generally tourist free. The water is crystal clear, so great for swimming.

Cala d’Hort
This is a truly beautiful beach. A great one for families, as there is a roped off swimming area, the stretch of sand is even, and the water very calm. An excellent spot to watch the sunset from, so spend the whole afternoon there, and finish it all off with dinner at El Carmen.
East:

S’Aigua Blanca
If nudist beaches creep you out, you still need to come here for a swim. A wide beach with a completely open ocean outlook, which makes a nice change from secluded coves. The water here is amazing for swimming, and if you like a few waves, you’re in luck.

Cala de Sant Vicent
This beach is quite built up, so hence a few more tourists, but this is some of the bluest water you will find on the island. If you don’t like crowds, shops, and pedaloes on your beach, just stop for a swim.

Cala Llenya
A great one for the kiddies. Another slightly more populated beach, but the water is top notch, so if you’re feeling a bit left out of the action from all your secluded aqua hideaways, head here instead.
North:

Cala d’en Serra
Drive your car as far down as you can here, otherwise it’ll be quite the climb to get back up. Worth it though – this littlebay is as private and peaceful as they come. Spend the afternoon here sipping on beer and cocktails from the cute ‘shack’ style bar.

Cala Xarraca
A quiet, secluded beach, despite it’s close proximity to Portinatx, which brings a few tourists in to its resorts. You’ll find natural therapeutic mud baths around to the left of the beach.

Cala Benirres
Around sunset you’re bound to see a few private yachts moored here. A small cove with crystal clear water (again), two restaurants serving up fresh fish, and a little bar. A beautiful drive down to this one.
South:

Playa d’Es Torrent
Don’t miss out on spending a day here. Even though it houses one of the best restaurants on the island, Es Torrent, the beach is surprisingly low-key. Have a long lunch of the freshest fish and then digest on a sunbed. The right hand side of the beach loses the sun around 5.30pm, so sunbathers, plan accordingly.

Playa de Ses Salines
The place to be on a sunny afternoon in Ibiza (yep, which is basically everyday). If you’re really not into scenes, maybe stick to the more private beaches, but we must admit, the tunes can get pretty damn good down here. So if you’re got a night of partying planned, listening to these while ordering cocktails from one of the bars right to your sunbed isn’t a bad place to start.
