GOOGLE DOODLE: A BRIEF HISTORY

We all love the Google Doodles right? For those of you not familiar with the term, we are talking about the bright, creative images we have come to see replace our most familiar and beloved internet logo every second or third day, in celebration of global holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of pioneers in art, science, and entertainment.

Here’s a very useful piece of trivia, especially for those currently preparing for the upcoming Burning Man festival in Nevada Desert, USA. The very first Google Doodle appeared in September 1998, created by Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page as a humorous ‘out of office’ sign for users while they attended the festival.

And here it is.

The hilarity of the pre-historic lettering is only superseded by the thought of two computer nerds shroomin’ their way around the desert for seven days. (Okay, two now multi-billionaire computer nerds shroomin’ their way around the desert).

The Google Doodle Team have sure come a long way since then…
