Simply one of the best burgers alive, and with it’s price tag at $85 USD it would want to be. Eat it in the upstairs bar (made famous by Lost In Translation) surrounded by rich folk and Japanese businessmen, with incredible views over Tokyo and the piano bar. It’s the location that makes this burger a real experience.

Double Double Animal Style, In’N'Out, America 1 800 786 1000
In-N-Out. Arguably the world’s best fast food burgers. It opened in 1948 with a menu that consisted of one cheeseburger, fries (fresh cut from real potatoes) and shakes with real ice-cream and the quality hasn’t changed since. You can’t go past double double animal style.

Lotus Cheeseburger, Lotus Bistro, 22 Challis Avenue, Sydney +61 2 9326 9000
One of the hottest topics of 2010 in Sydney – have you tried the Lotus burger? It ticks all of the boxes – a super soft bun, juicy patty, cheese, mayonnaise, pickles, and bacon. A burger made in heaven. The only problem is, one might not quite hit the spot.

Hickoryburger, The Apple Pan, 10801 West Pico Blvd, Los Angeles +1 310 475 3585
An LA classic cheeseburger that’s been around forever. Served in a paper wrapper and greasy as hell with loads of sauce, crunchy pickles, and iceberg lettuce. Juicy, wet, delicious, just as a burger should be.

Black Label Burger, Minetta Tavern, 113 MacDougal Street, New York +1 212 475 3850
When this burger hit the menu people thought it was crazy charging $25 for a burger, though once they tasted it they never looked back. A burger where you can taste the quality of the meat.

Americano, The Top Shop, 65 Carlyle Street, Byron Bay, Australia 2481 +61 2 6685 6495
The perfect holiday burger. Their whole list is great, but try the Americano first. Fennel seed patty, onions, pickles, mustard and ketchup. Add lettuce and beetroot for extra flavour (thus turning it an Australiano burger).

The ShackBurger, Shake Shack, New York and Miami
The food lover’s fast food joint. Big queues but worth the wait.

The Hawksmoor Burger, Hawskmoor, 157 Commercial St, London E1 +44 207 247 7392
This burger is only available at lunchtime, and only on weekdays – so schedule your visit accordingly, because this decadent burger, enriched with bone marrow, is definitely worth re-organizing things for.

Bronte Burger and Bondi Chicken Burger, Ruby’s Cafe, 219 Mulberry St, New York +1 212 925 5755
These burgers are argued as one of the best in NYC. Be sure to add sweet chili sauce to your chicken burger.

The Fergburger and Big Al, Fergburger, 42 Shotover Street, Queenstown +64 3 441 1232
A BIG burger. Some say this is the world’s best. We say it’s just one of, which is why it’s sitting on this list.

The Cheeseburger, Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien, 119 West 56th Street, New York +1 212 708 7414
Tucked away behind a curtain in the hotel, you’ll enjoy the secretive CIA element to the whole experience almost as much as the burger.
