3DD: CELEBRATING THE BEAUTY OF BREASTS

Meet Henry Hargreaves. Henry is quite a clever guy, because he’s managed to combine two of his passions, photography and boobs, into one art form. He’s done all the hard work in shooting them, so all you have to do is put on your pair of 3D aviators (they come with the book), sit back, and enjoy the popping images that have resulted from these life long interests. Not a bad idea, huh?

YOLO asked him a few questions about his 3D book of breasts.

What has your work over the years entailed and how did it lead you to this book?
It’s been an unconventional journey. I grew up in New Zealand and after university went travelling. I started modelling in Bangkok and found myself as the pin up boy for Prada shortly after. After moving to the US and bartending for a few years, I started to support myself just taking pictures. I work at lot with colour manipulation in my work and I wanted to do some pictures with the 3D red and blue anaglyph style. I did a fashion shoot and loved the results and wanted to do a whole projected dedicated to this 3D style (this was before all the movies started to come out). I wanted something that would resonate well with this kitch but playful art form and as soon as I got boobs into my head that was it!

What was your first encounter with a boob/pair of boobs? (apart from the obvious at two minutes old)
As a kid I used to look though Dad’s Playboys and was always mesmerized by the boobs, so I guess it’s been a lifetime fascination.

How do you manage to find so many girls that will take their tops off for you?
A lot of the girls in the book are friends and even one family member. I guess once the girls see the pictures and realise they’re not dirty but actually really fun and flattering they get into it. Who wouldn’t want their boobs immortalized in 3D while they’re at their prime?

Do you ever get bored of shooting boobs?
In any photography assignment it’s the challenge I enjoy – how do we shoot this in a new and interesting way? I love trying to reinvent the wheel, or the boob, and in 3D there are other challenges like trying to bring fore and background into play. It’s always a challenge and always exciting to shoot a fresh set of breasts and do them justice in the context of all the other great and fun shots.

Plans for the future – sequels, books on any other parts of the female anatomy?
We are having a great time with this book. We sold out of the first printing in just 2 months with no distribution outside the US apart from the website which ships to Oz. The next printing arrives in a couple of weeks and we now have proper international distribution and there are also some amazing parties planned. The publisher has also green lighted a follow up so keep an eye on the website for what comes next – I promise it will be bigger, better and much stronger!
